N°5 | MUSIC FOR 18 MUSICIANS
MUSIC FOR 18 MUSICIANS
The audience is invited here to a collective listening and dancing experience, led by the musicians of the Links ensemble and the dancers of the Mad company / Sylvain Groud.

On stage, eighteen musicians play one of the most emblematic pieces of American minimalist music, Music for 18 Musicians – its fans call it simply 18. This piece, one of the most ambitious Steve Reich has ever written, consists of short musical passages repeated ad infinitum, slightly desynchronised with each repetition: thus, the audience gets caught in a rhythm that is both obsessive and constantly changing, hypnotic and fascinating. In the audience, two thousand people of all ages enter a singular trance-like state, guided by “trained” amateur dancers. For those who wish to join the ranks of these “guides”, three preparatory workshops will be organized in the months preceding the concert, open to all levels and ages (from the age of 8).
