SIDE(S), MECHANICS OF THE PRESENT
SIDE(S), MECHANICS OF THE PRESENT
Supported by an interactive multimedia set-up, SIDE(S) explores the mechanics of the present based on a score of appearances and disappearances of moments. Movements of the dancers and of the audience trigger the display of images on a two-way mirror, drive the musical score of a MIDI organ, and reveal electroacoustic sound matter.

Side(s), Mechanics of the Present is a place of possibility where life can appear or disappear at any moment. This fragile and unstable place is filled with the traces of the living: murmurs, rhythms, lights, bodies. These traces demand to be seen again, to be animated with the help of photography and music. When the public approaches, the spectres come to life, murmurs become sound, shadows become bodies and the space fills with voices. An organ breathes in the centre, lights coordinated to its rhythm. It all starts from basically nothing, from the whisper of a phantom organ. Side(s), Mechanics of the Present is a partition that opens to the void.” Alexandre Lévy
