Japanese electronic Music composer and visual artist Ryoji Ikeda offers with Test Pattern no9 a unique sensory experience combining sound, images, physical henomena, mathematical concepts and human behavious, plunging the spectactor into an almost unreal space.
With The Book of Sand, composer Michel van der Aa has invented a completely new genre: the digital, interactive song cycle. Van der Aa puts the spectator in a space where all places in the world exist simultaneously. A young woman collects up sand that is being moved between the film layers by a mysterious machine. Three parallel film layers reveal alternative points of view and introduce new elements to the story, allowing the spectator to choose a new route through the narrative at any point.
Smartland-Divertimento is conceived as a forest of Smartphones that communicate between themselves, hearing each other and responding, lighting up autonomously like fireflies. The audio material used is recorded laughter. The installation creates rhythms by playing fully with this happy, human, touching and even strange material.
